Our Amazing Boat Trip to Koufonisi Island – A Hidden Paradise in Crete

The Start of Our Adventure

Our day began in Makry Gialos, a charming fishing village on Crete’s southeast coast. From there, we boarded the Triton—a beautiful traditional wooden sailing boat that fits up to 19 guests. The crew was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole trip feel cozy and personal right from the start.

Sailing to Koufonisi Island

As we set sail, the views of the Cretan Sea were breathtaking. The cruise takes about 90 minutes, but honestly, time flew by because the scenery was so beautiful.

Once we reached Koufonisi Island, we stopped at a secluded beach with powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters. It felt like being on a private island!

Swimming, Snorkeling & Relaxation

We had two swim stops during the day, and snorkeling gear was included. The underwater world was vibrant and full of life—it’s a great spot for anyone who loves snorkeling or just floating in the calm, blue sea.

At around 1:30 PM, we enjoyed a BBQ lunch on the boat, with Greek salad, grilled chicken, pork, fish, and fresh bread. Everything was delicious! Drinks like wine, beer, raki, and soft drinks were included too. Later, we were treated to a refreshing fruit salad.

Back to Makry Gialos

After a few more hours of relaxing and swimming, we departed from Koufonisi around 3:30 PM and returned to Makry Gialos at about 5 PM—sun-kissed, happy, and completely recharged.
